MBA TRIP VIETNAM & THAILAND

Day 1

HO CHI MINH

This evening you arrive Ho Chi Minh on United Airlines flight 869. Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, you will be met by our representative, who will assist you with all the formalities and then transfer you to your centrally located hotel

Vietnam—a name too long associated with the horrors of war, has finally won its last battle—to capture the imagination of the traveling public. Elegant Hanoi now vies with its dynamic sister, Ho Chi Minh City (still fondly called Saigon by the locals), for the attention of visitors who are drawn by the eclectic mix of old and new. In both cities, the streets are jam-packed with motorbikes and scooters, often carrying entire families, and the markets are chaotically busy. Elsewhere, the scenes are timeless. Early morning on the Mekong Delta brings the daily floating markets where peddlers sell their fruits and vegetables. Everywhere the green patchwork of rice paddies stretches into the distance, broken only by the silhouette of water buffalo and conical-hatted farm workers bending down to tend the young plants. The soaring mountains in the north of the country tower over tiny villages where life continues much as it has done for centuries, with the villagers still proudly wearing their traditional costumes.

Day 2

HO CHI MINH – ME KHONG DELTA

Following breakfast at our hotel, an English-speaking guide will take us on a sightseeing excursion to My Tho, which includes a boat trip to the Mekong River Islands. First, we drive to My Tho, a bustling town in the rich agricultural region of the Mekong Delta and visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda, a beautiful temple and a sanctuary for orphans and other needy children. Afterwards, we board a local boat to explore the islands of the Mekong, stopping at a fruit orchard to enjoy fruit and tea while listening to local music. The trip also includes a brief sampan ride through the tiny waterways that thread the island. We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. After our tour, we drive back to our hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 3

HO CHI MINH

Today we visit various companies in the city. An air-conditioned deluxe bus will be provided to visit companies in the city.

We will enjoy lunch at Sen Restaurant

Day 4

HO CHI MINH - CITY TOUR – CU CHI TUNNEL

After breakfast we begin our city sightseeing tour of Saigon with an English-speaking guide. The emerging modern skyline stands cheek to cheek with colonial buildings and traditional temples. Outside on the streets, young professionals zip by on motorcycles; inside the quiet temple courtyards, worshippers pray amidst clouds of incense. We begin our tour of this exciting city with a tour of the historic center. We stroll along Dong Khoi Street, formerly known as the Rue Catinat, which is the main shopping thoroughfare and the heart of old colonial Saigon. We pass by classic European-style landmarks such as the ornate City Hall (Hotel De Ville) and the old Opera House (both may only be viewed from the outside), and pay a quick visit to the neo)

Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Afterwards we visit the Reunification Palace, which was formerly the Independence Palace of the South Vietnamese president. This 60s style building was famously stormed by tanks on April 30, 1975, which signified the fall of South Vietnam. The Palace has been preserved in its original state, and the original tanks remain on display near the entrance gates. Continue to the War Remnants Museum, which comprehensively documents the travails of the long Vietnam-American War. Inside are detailed photographic exhibitions, and outside is a collection of tanks, planes, and weapons. A powerful experience, visiting this museum is guaranteed to provoke strong emotions. Finally, we will end up at the central Ben Thanh Market.

This afternoon we visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, an important Vietcong base during the American War. Stretching over 200 km, this incredible underground network, dug by hand out of hard laterite, connected command posts, hospitals, shelters, and weapon factories. Today, we can walk through the area and learn about the day-to-day life of the Vietcong, see the cleverly disguised entrances and elaborate booby-traps, and even venture inside the tunnels, some of which have been modified to accommodate tourists. You will stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 5

This fascinating network of narrow alleys and shop houses is also known as The 36 Streets, with each street being named after the traditional merchandise sold here, ranging from fabrics to crafts to medicines to tombstones. The Quarter is a handicraft-lover's paradise and an endlessly interesting place to explore local life. Afterwards, we visit the Museum of Ethnology, which has art and artifacts from the 54 different ethnic groups of Vietnam and brings to life the country’s astonishing ethnic diversity. Inside the museum are detailed descriptions of minority groups, with examples of their traditional clothing and ways of life. We will also visit a Puppet Show. .

Day 7

HANOI

The entire day is free to explore this interesting city on our own.

Some of you may want to join a full-day optional tour of Perfume Pagoda.
(10 hours duration—the cost is about $45.00 per person, including lunch, transportation, an English-speaking guide, entrance fees, and a cyclo ride)

The Perfume Pagoda is one of the most important religious sites in Buddhist Vietnam. Every spring, thousands of pilgrims come here to pray for all the health and prosperity they need to get them through the coming year. The pagoda itself is built into limestone cliffs and can only be reached by boat or on foot, as there are no roads into the area. Float by boat along scenic waterways and walk up mountain paths to visit the pagodas and temples that have been built over the centuries.

As we depart Hanoi, we have a two-hour drive through the picturesque countryside and back roads to the village of Duc, where we will have some refreshments before boarding our boats for a 1 ½ hour ride along the scenic Yen River. After our boat ride, we walk to the Thien Tru Pagoda (Heaven’s Kitchen) and the Perfume Cave and Pagoda—which involves one hour total of walking. On our return, we visit Giai Oan and Tuyet Son Pagodas. Lunch will be at one of the little food stalls near Thien Tru Pagoda. After lunch, the boat will take us back to our bus for the drive back to Hanoi

Or you want to take a full-day optional excursion to Tam Coc.
(7 hours duration—the cost is about $40.00 per person, including lunch, transportation, an English speaking guide, entrance fees, cold towels, and bottled water.)

Journey southwest towards Ninh Binh province, and continue to Tam Coc. This area is famous for its breathtaking scenery, where dramatic limestone formations rise sharply out of green rice paddies and wetlands. Embark on a small, hand-rowed sampan, and begin your journey along green waterways. The name Tam Coc means ‘three caves,’ and you will pass under a sequence of three caves—Hang Ca, Hang Giua, and Hang Coi—as your boat glides past the rice fields and lotus ponds. After your tour, stop at nearby Bich Dong Pagoda before returning to Hanoi.

Day 8

HANOI

Today we will enjoy a full-day sightseeing excursion with our English-speaking guide to Halong Bay, which includes lunch. The tiny limestone islands are dotted with many beaches and grottoes that provide an excellent backdrop for swimming or just lazing about from the deck of our luxury boat. The drive from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay takes approximately 3 hours by road. Once at Ha Long Bay, we will board our private boat for a cruise of this stunning area, stopping along the way for a swim as well as a visit to one of many limestone caves in the area. While on board we will enjoy a delicious seafood lunch.
